Asian sourcing and European operations: Cybic Sport as a strategic partner

With deep roots in bicycle production, Cybic Sport has grown into a strategic partner for brands and businesses that need custom-designed bicycles. Now operating as an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM), the company offers end-to-end support — from concept and design to development, production, logistics, and fulfilment.

Combining Asian sourcing and European operations, Cybic Sport has established a German-based subsidiary to directly support European clients. The full-service solution resolves the many limitations in bicycle production and opens the doors to improved efficiency, quality and reduced lead-times.

By offering turnkey solutions, the company helps bike brands, fleet operators, and rental providers bring purpose-built bicycles to market more efficiently and with greater control over quality, cost, and speed. With collaborative bicycle design and development together with clients, the brand ensures that the specific demands of the riders, the use-case and the client are met.

Understanding the end-consumer helps us develop better solutions for our customers”

From the idea to production and beyond

The majority of the bicycle solutions produced by the company are electric bikes. These commonly require custom accessories and features to suit the use-cases and rider needs. General manager Cynthia Liu explains: “Understanding the end-consumer helps us develop better solutions for our customers. We don’t just follow specifications, we think with them.”

Cybic Sport has extensive production experience and can build all types of utility bikes. By evolving into a turnkey service provider, the company now offers even more value. Customers get access to all the essential services needed to design, produce, and launch their bicycles.

For example, an electric bicycle built for employees in a facility may need to meet specific safety, compliance, and functional requirements. In partnership with Cybic Sport, these requirements can be identified early on. “We’re not just a manufacturer,” says Liu. “We support our customers from the idea to the final product — including design, sourcing, and assembly.”

Not just a bike, but a complete solution

Businesses and organisations that want to develop a bicycle, but lack the necessary skills and in-house resources, often face limitations in creating the best solution for their audience. Cybic Sport recognises this need and fills the gaps with a full-service approach. Clients benefit from complete support in component sourcing, logistics, assembly, quality control, and delivery.

The company’s experience and capabilities help clients save time and reduce costs by streamlining the entire process and minimising unnecessary overheads, delays, and problems.

Different types of clients

Cybic Sport serves three main client groups seeking purpose designed and built bicycles:

1. Bicycle brands that need product development and production of bicycles branded with their name.
2. Fleet clients, such as businesses and organisations, that require purpose-built bikes for specific roles, such as delivery services or employee transport.
3. Companies and governments operating shared and rental mobility services, whose bicycles must suit the riding environment and allow for fast maintenance.

Localised and individualised

For European customers, the bicycle assembly facilities are in the Czech Republic, which simplifies logistics and increases speed. “There are clear advantages in establishing a local presence in Europe to support customers,” says Liu. “For European customers, this increases the efficiency. And we also set up a German subsidiary because we want to support our European customers better. We employ local staff who understand the market and make communication easier. They can more easily identify and understand the end-customer requirements, in order to design and produce a better bicycle. By combining the cost-efficient Asian sourcing and production of parts with the European assembly, quality control and compliance, we can shorten the lead-times."

Sponsored Herrmans Bike Components: ready for an unpredictable future

The bicycle industry has rarely faced a period as prolonged and complex as the years following Covid. Supply-chain disruptions, volatile demand, excess inventory and rising competition - particularly from Asia - have tested even long-established suppliers. For Herrmans Bike Components, a Finnish manufacturer with more than 60 years of history, the past three years have been less about weathering a short-term crisis and more about adapting to a fundamentally new and less predictable reality.
