The X-paravent, or X-screen, is dimensioned through the use of one standardised multiplex with common dimensions. The five birch veneered panels are connected by hinges.
The X-hinges are designed in such a way that the ‘X’ shapes are formed at any moment while the screen gets moved around in different positions. Through cut-outs, the eye creates other X shapes. These interesting looking X-hinges totally lack complexity. It changes the aesthetics of the general hinge completely. The cross shape of the hinge is also referring to the slotted cross on the top of its screws. Metalworkers made these hinges out of untreated copper. This means that in the long term these hinges will change appearance by oxidation.
The fine execution of these modern hinges show a modern craftsmanship inside the interior. Together with an X-table and X-lamp, the X - paravent forms an X – collection.
